I switched to Trend Micro Internet Security today, which found and deleted a bunch of things and it looked hopefull … until it found a virus called Mal Vundo-5. Since then I have been trying to get rid of it many different ways including simply deleting the .dll file it was in (which wouldn’t let me delete it because it was “in use”), I downloaded and tried programs like VundoFix and FixVundo (not working), and Trend Micro is not able to remove it or quarantine it for whatever reason but all the while the pop up in the bottom right is going off like crazy. not one second goes after I x out the warning box until another comes up saying the same thing.
How can I either remove Mal Vundo-5, Add the file that it doesn’t like onto an exception list in Micro Trend, or delete a .dll file that doesn’t want to be deleted?
HELP?!?!

heres how
PRINT OFF THESE INSTRUCTIONS ON ANOTHER COMPUTER
First disable all antivirus and spyware programs (there not doing anything anyway) by clicking start menu then run then type msconfig go to start-up uncheck Antivirus & then go to services check off hide all Microsoft services and uncheck AV. Then restart computer in safe mode or not (safe mode not always needed).
Lavasoft Virtumonde Remover will find and clean the variants of the Virtumonde (a.k.a Vundo Trojan), that integrate tightly with the operating system, causing some scanners to blue screen windows

Also, turn off System Restore to evict any copies of bad stuff that might be lurking there.

the first answer is absolutly correct! the vundo virus is installed in your memory and if you try to remove it with scanners you will lose your desktop.[meaning] your taskbar and icons will permanantly disappear and you have no access to anything. and that leads you to reformatting you entire pc.
Speaking from experence.
