Is it possible for a program to not show up in the programs list accessed through the start > all programs function, but still show up in your add/remover programs list?
I recently uninstalled Mcafee, the version from 2005 I believe, using a program called Win Cleaner One Click.
I know I should have went along and used my add/remove programs function to uninstall Mcafee but everything sucessfully uninstalled except for Mcafee SecurityCenter. It’s still remaining on my computer somehow, some way.
I’ve deleted every file with the word Mcafee in it, I’ve scanned the only remaining .dll (McPatch.dll) file using MalwareBytes and it came up safe and okay, and no other Mcafee Application is listed in my list of All Programs. Mcafee SecurityCenter isn’t even there.
Yet when I go to add/remove programs, Mcafee SecurityCenter is still listed.
It does not however, show size, last used on, or used information.
I don’t know whats going on anymore.
Also,
Whenever I start my computer I get this message:
Some components of McAfee SecurityCenter are either missing or may not have been installed properly. Please reinstall McAfee SecurityCenter.
And this one:
A required installation file SKU112.CAB could not be found.
I used to get this one:
An error has occured in the script on this page.
Line: 11
Char: 2
Error: Object doesn’t suppoer this property or method: ‘gobjReg.RegDeleteKey’
Code: 0
URL: mcp://C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee.com\Agent\RegWizUl.dll::default.vbs
before I disabled script debugging under Internet Options.
Is there anybody out there who can help?

If you go to Yahoo! or the McAfee website, search for "McAfee Removal Tool." You will have to download the software and run/install it. It will usually remove any traces of their software that may be left on your computer or that wasn’t uninstalled properly.
If that doesn’t work, try Revo Uninstaller. When you uninstall any program, choose "Advanced" and that will usually try to delete any mention of the program including any Registry keys/files that the program may have installed.

Hi There,
I had the same trouble uninstalling McAfee antivirus.
Spent about six months searching in the registry for any traces of McAfee. That really bugs me that McAfee hides itself all over the registry.
Norton does the same thing (and they also have a removal tool). And it works also.
There is an answer now. McAfee has a removal tool that does the job for you.
I have used it and it worked fine for me.
Download and run the tool to finally remove the McAfee applications.
Hope this helps,
Al
