mcafee & AVG?

July 26th, 2008 · 6 Comments

since my mcafee subscription ended i was recommended to go with a free antivirus program. AVG was one of the recommendations. however i went on the AVG site and saw the protection level. its the same thing as my mcafee end subscription. i might as well just leave mcafee alone without renewing it and it'd be the same as having AVG Free. i dont see the difference realy. i mean i can still scan on mcafee. only thing i cant do is update it. correct me if im wrong plz

But if your subscription already ended with McAfee you won't be able to update your anti virus that means you will have an old definition file of virus list that your McAfee can remove/clean on your system. With free AVG you can always update your Anti virus for free protecting your system

You want something that can update. There are new threats every day,if it can't update, you could be infected with something that it can't possibly get rid of.I recommend avast instead of avg though. It has a much higher detection rate and self-updates.

Mcafee has higher ratings, more protection than a lot of others.
You need to keep your antvirus UPDATED ..too many new viruses .
I update mine several times a day if i am at home..

Performance wise, McAfee, Norton, and AVG all suck. So why do people use them? They're really cheap.

If you want to use AVG, feel free, but know that you're not fully protected. NOD32 and Kaspersky are the two best Anti-Virus programs you can possibly get, but they can be pretty costly, though it's virtually impossible to get a virus if you have them. It all boils down to how much you want to pay.

Hi, I've used avg for about 2 years and haven't had a problem with it

I think you should try avg 8 free edition i have been using it . it offers free update for a certain period and its web toolbar is cool. Mcafee really sucks. i had installed it but it slowed down my pc very much so i had to remove it. so in my opinion avg is better
