I purchased McAfee’s top of the line product, the full Internet Suite, back in February of this year. They never sent the promised $20 rebate. (I never received their promised $20 rebate the year before, either.) Not only that, they removed their product from my system four months before it expired. I had no idea this had happened because I knew my subscription ran through 2/29/08. I contacted McAfee, they said they had fixed the problem, but their “fix” did nothing. I and all of my documents have been left unprotected for 109 days. I would never connect to the Web without full protection, but now I find out that I have been doing just that for 109 days. Whatever you do, don’t purchase McAfee. Suggestions for pc protection other than McAfee, please. Norton? Others? Thanks.

Norton 360 is my personal favorite, I even have it hooked up on my 75 year old grandma’s computer and she can use it.

Barbara! The BEST Virus Protection program out there is Avira Antivirus! Best of all…IT’S FREE! I’M DEAD SERIOUS. I HAVE THIS PROGRAM. MY FRIEND TOLD ME ABOUT IT. It’s a free program that you can download and what’s so great about it is that it gives you 100% protection and takes up little memory. That’s the key! Most programs still protect you, but they suck up your computer’s memory making your processor run abnormaly slower than it should be. So here’s the link right here!

i used to love mcaffee, but they got too expensive.
zone alarm for software fire wall, free version is fine. you will need to shutdown widows fire wall in vista/XP while installing, zone alarm will keep it turned off once installed. ignore the windows fire wall warnings.

Norton is okay as far as that it works. However it does take up a big chunk of your hard drive and sometimes it can just be down right annoying. There are others that work really well and they are cheaper as well. Trend Micro, Webroot, and Kalpersky are a few I can name. I would encourage you to bring it into Best Buy and have a computer associate recommend one that would fit your needs. I am a computer supervisor at Best Buy and we really do have some pretty good packages that are inexpensive.
