i downloaded mcafee from a dell disc that came with my pc. i just received an email saying i have to renew it. what does this mean? and what if i dont renew it?
if i bought the actual mcafee disc would i have to deal with these subscriptions. because i notice i have to pay for these renewals. and thats like ridiculous how i have to pay to renew it. so do i need to buy the actual disc?

Well..what it is if you have the Mcafee Disk from Dell and you have used it for a year..then yes, you have to renew it! Even if you go out and buy the McAfee or Norton Anti-Virus, after one year you will still have to renew your subscription to get full updates for your anti-virus, I agree that is stupid as well, but thats how it goes.

Now-a-days IT industry is moving to SAS model, they tend to charge the customer less for the software and earn by subscription. You subscription has been expired. You can renew it by calling Macafee or using their website.
