Don’t use two antiviruses. I use McAfee also and it works great for me.

It’s probably a personal preference thing…but I do know that you shouldn’t run two anti-virus apps at the same time. Your system’s performance will suffer because the anti-virus programs are competing against each other - constantly scanning, robbing your system of valuable resources.

McCrappy is not worth having. It has the worst detection rates in the business. That’s a fact in recent testing and not my opinion

Avira, although not perfect is a much better choice. I would use one or the other and not both.

McCappy does scan in real time but will only detect the most common infections.

Both not great choices, use AVG free antivirus, aviria is to old.

Well the Mcafee protection from ComCast offers more protection. It has a firewall, plus some other features. Mcafee detection has in the past been lower than Avia. But in recent test it scored very high. Avira will run a lot lighter than Mcafee. If you have a lot of Ram that should not be an issue. Avira also does not scan emails, I don’t know if that matters to you. I am using Mcafee total protection beta on Windows 7 and it is working good. One thing for sure you should not have two anti-virus programs on your computer. Both of those offer good protection. Pick one and uninstall the other. If I had plenty of Ram, I would use Mcafee, and then if unhappy with it, change it after a month.
Note: After reading the last post on Avira on went to their web site to see if Avira adding scanning of email traffic and found that they still don’t offer it in the free version

      Avira Personal
      No doubt Avira
Avira has great protection and the best detection rate
      remember,only 1 anti-virus
Do not use Mcafee,it has one of the lowest detection rates and is not good.
Avira does scan emails,i have it.
