ok i had a 30 day subscription of mcafee that came with my computer. it is now up..so im thinking of unistalling it off my computer. when i go to the security center it says im not fully protected..i need to pay and update my subscription. my question is should i delete it? when i go to my computer security center it says firewall is up virscan is on (windows defender and mcafee)i have windows vista. now it says malware protection is turned off and needs updating..then it goes back to paying money. which i wont do right now. i also would like to download a free virus protection program like avg have the site? lastly i have optimum online should i just download their virus protection and delete mcafee.
also am i asking for trouble if i have two virus scan programs running? windows defender and mcafee?..can you just run your computer with windows defender and be safe?

Windows Defender is an anti-spyware application. It doesn't detect viruses. But yes, get rid of McAfee. It's a horrible, horrible program that doesn't deserve to be on anyones computer. Use AVG Free instead, along with Windows Defender and Windows Firewall, and you'll be all set.

Do NOT run 2 of anything they will clash
You need anti virus and anti spyware and a firewall.
anti virus Avast Home Edition - Free
anti spyware Spyware Terminator - Free
firewall ZoneAlarm - Free edition

This happens to me all the time when I reinstall windows vista.
First download a free antivirus could be AVG, Avira, etc. Then unistall Macafee, and then install the free antivirus.
Then put windows defender up to date. and your safe. activate your firewall too.
