I downloaded avast, and was told i should uninstall any other A-Virus programs. Well i went and looked, and i had norton on here with a 60 day trial that i had never started. Its a pretty new computer bout a month old. Well i did that, installed avast, but im not sure if i have removed firewall protection or anything else that came with norton. Any advice would be helpful. Just trying to get my computer as safe as a virgin.

You would be pestered by pop up's in the lower right system tray if you didn't have an adequate firewall and anti virus. Windows Firewall works fine for me.

Norton along with being a resource hog doesn't play well with others. if you should need to remove Norton completely go here Norton removal tool and follow instructions they are very easy…also you can get free fire walls on line one is comodo.com and look for comodo pro firewall it is free

Safe as a Virgin maybe almost impossible. No antivirus is perfect. I know in windows should alert you if no firewall is present or not turned on. if you are not getting the message then i would not worry to much about it. To put yourself at easy i would go to shieldsup.com and have it do a remote port scan

To completely remove Norton products (which MUST be removed completely before installing Avast or any other A-V)
Download and run the Norton Removal Tool from the Norton / Symantec website.

Just be aware that Avast is not an internet security suite…it has NO firewall.
