i think AVG and/or Spysweeper is sucking up my Toshiba's Ram! which antivirus and antispyware programs are the best for not taking as much CPU? I would prefer to have have both in one program. is there a program that has antispyware and antivirus protection in one? I need to be efficient with this one and I my laptop is heated up because of the overload (My fan runs constantly now since I installed AVG Spysweeper). My disk is 2 GB free of 110 GB can low disk space have a huge effect on CPU or Memory? my info:
CPU: switches from High(89%) to Low(10%)/Low High every second
Physical Memory:
total: 1013MB
cached: looks like this # increases by 2 or 3MB a second decreases by 1MB every 30sec-1min.
free: 1-6MB
Kernel Memory: (I think these #'s are fixed)
total:102MB
paged: 70MB
non-paged: 32MB
SYSTEM:
handles: 20563
threads 848
page file 1003M / 2285M
If you computer efficiency experts can give me a couple of tips on this then that would be appreciated.

Because your PC is almost full, that can be a cause, try removing unneeded software. a anti-spyware and anti-virus and many more in one is AVG8-which i use and is excellent. i you want it free, go to this sites in order to get a free one year: http://www.utorrent.com/ (download)> http://www.download.com/WinZip/3000-2250_4-10003164.html (download) > finally for the AVG8 go to http://www.mininova.org/com/1338111 or http://www.mininova.org/tor/1338260 and download the torrent. unzip with winzip and then install. enjoy

there are alot of issues 1 you are looking at the wrong things
if you have truely filled up 100 gigs of hard drive and only have 2 gigs then yes your system will be slow as mollases in winter uphill, clean it up but it sound more like you are looking at your recovery partiition and that has limited space, your system has only 1 gig memory (1024- video memory of 8 megs giving you the 1013)
your page file is on your hard drive thats known as virtual memory and should equal to 1 meg per meg of physical memory which means 1 gig of hdd for virtual /swap files)
if you have used up that space then your system will be very very very very slow
and a scan will take along time as it has to scan 110 gigs of files so expect ti would take about a week if it were ever able to scan it cause most scans will fail after taking to long

AVG 7.5 . It's free to download & free from any charge forever. I have been using it for the past 2 yrs & have had no problems with it. Don't install the spysweeper, just the avg 7.5 antivirus part.
