When I restart Windows after doing a series of update installations for MPT, Windows does not load. Instead I get a blank black screen and then I have to hold down the power button to shut down. Then when I start up the pc again, I cannot even load into safe mode–it freezes the pc. I have to go into F8 in order to go to repair windows and do a system restore prior to the MPT installations. Then I’m stuck with no updates on MPT and it won’t recognize my phone on the old version 4.0. I’m in a dilemma. Can someone help me figure out what I can do to prevent the installations from messing up my Windows Vista?
I was able to use a restore point prior to the installations and got back on windows. But ths time, there is no restore point available. I cannot access windows and cannot re-install vista as it was pre-installed. I know there must be an easier way than having to restore the pc to factory settings.

Try to find a version of the software that’s compatible with Vista. That may be for XP. Otherwise try re-installing Vista if you can validate it.
