My antivirus said I had a virus, so what happened to it?

August 30th, 2008 · 5 Comments

I had AVG virus protection, it was ready to be upgraded and had contained a “Trojan horse dropper” virus. It would not allow me to fix/heal it…so I purchased Norton Anti virus, now I installed the virus protection and scanned and the software says I don’t have any threats… so what happened to that “trojan horse dropper” virus?? Did it get erased when I uninstalled the AVG in order to install the Norton? Please any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

AVG is a very poor definition based scanner. Most definitions it has are on commercial webservers. In short with out technical hoo ha, it doesn’t do anything, won’t catch real viruses, and will report false ones.

Norton says it isn’t there? It isn’t there.

There’s a chance that it’s a serious virus that disrupted the installation of Norton. I would suggest reinstalling windows and putting a Symantec, McAffee, or NOD32 product on first thing.

Thats why you ditch avast and get avast.Avg is set up for the experienced user.Makes you have to manual delete a lot of pests.
it will have some novice looking into the registry.which is dangerous grounds if your not to familiar of what you have installed.

AVG might have put the virus in quarantine and this area might have been erased when you installed AVG. I don’t like to mention it but Norton is not a very good anti virus slows down your computer.
