I get confused on these things but I know you’re not supposed to have 2 virus protection programs running at once so i already have mcafee free for 30 days after that im going to get avast home edition, but in the mean time I can still downlod spybot and windows defender, correct? If someone could explain id gladly give you best answer and you’ll be helping a guy protect him comp, lol.

not until your free trial runs up. 2 virus protection programs will fight against each other and cause your computer to be very very very slow

Short answer: You can and should run spybot in addition to McAfee.
By Spybot I assume you mean SpyBot Search and Destroy. This application can run in conjunction with McAfee.
McAfee is an anti-virus program it is constantly running in the background looking at the files on your hard drive and checking to see if any virus signature are found.
SpyBot is an anti-spyware program. Spyware may not be detected by McAfee. SpyBot also has an “immunize” function that allows you to block known bad programs and websites. I strongly recommend you take advantage of this feature. SpyBot does not run all the time and only looks for spyware when you initiate a scan.
In the end you could potentially use 2 anti-virus programs and not have too many problems. The biggest issue is the memory and processor utilization that both of the programs would be using. They dont “fight” really just use up all of your system resources. Thats not to say problems may not arise from running two…
