I have a dell dimension E510 bought in 2006 with a Pentium 4 640: 3.2ghz 800fsb x16 and 1gb or RAM.
Currently my computer is using around 70% of the RAM and it's acting sort of slow, if I upgrade to 4gb will it go any faster and use less than 70%

It will most likely go faster and definitely use less than 70%, although 4GB is probably overkill unless you compile programs or run photoshop while burning dvds or something.

if you have a pc before upgrading your ram capacity try running disk defragmenter it speeds up your computer by sorting out all the programs also try running disk cleanup this removes unneccessary programs and files both of these are preloaded into windows, if this dosn't work upgrade your ram to 2gb there is really no need to have 4gb unless you are running alot of programs at once

IT depends what kind you get. like if u get one of those cheapies, Umm… DON'T BUY IT!!!!!!!
Get a Microsoft RAM and have them perfessonaly install it. if you don't you may break your computer! Even worse, well, i don't want to say it.

^ I don't know what the guy above me is talking about. A 6 year old can install RAM. You just put it in the slot and that's it. The important part is to know what type of RAM your mobo supports.
4 gigs of RAM will definitely boost your performance. But it's quality over quantity. Look for low latency when shopping for RAM.
I would personally prefer 2 gigs of 4-4-4-12 RAM to 4 gigs of 5-5-5-18 RAM.

check for viruses and also conflicting anti viruses
low disk spaces , try fragmenting drives
but upgrade to max 4GB ram will solve your problems

Hi
You could upgrade the ram If it was me I would do a thorough clean up including brush and vacuuming the dust inside the computer check that I have all Windows updates installed and use a storage device for large files like a secondary hard drive Then if it was still to slow upgrade the ram.
Hope this helps
Good Luck
