If you're running Windows XP or Windows Vista, check out all the running processes in the Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Delete).

You can click on the various column headers in the Task Manager and choose how to arrange them. Arrange them according to the amount of CPU usage the processes take.

Then you'll find which processes are draining your system of its zippiness.

You can find out which Windows services are unnecessary by going to http://www.blackviper.com/ and looking up the services configuration for your version of Windows.

If you're still using Internet Explorer with ActiveX and third-party Browser Help Objects (BHOs), turn off those wicked little ActiveX and BHOs.

Use SpywareBlaster AND Spybot S&D (or comparable software) to protect your computer. further than anti-virus alone can protect it.

Have you tweaked your installation of Windows XP with X-Setup? Have you pared down the unnecessary programs that run during Windows start-up in the System Tray? Cut out all those little instant messengers, weather bugs, and other non-essentials.

Get and install CCleaner. It cleans out Registry gunk and useless files with a clickety-click of the mouse. (And, it's default settings are safe enough for even a novice to use.)

ya probably its the errors in ur system files and

viruses malwares adwares and other threats to ur pc …

true that u have a virus guard but dont think virus

guards will find every threat to ur pc ur gonna get …

some use free virus guards which are very bad

in security eventhough they say they provide 100

% security … some use very bad guards like

norton and mcafee which gives more risk for ur pc

for being infected … and most of the people dont

know about the value of using a virus or a internet

guard software like the kapsersky and bit defender …

the only thing u can do is delete ur partitions

make new partitions and format in ntfs

reinstall ur os and everything if u got any

backups then dont put em back to ur pc

as those maybe still infected (im not talking

about video or audio files im talking about

exe and programme files) doing system

restores aint gonna work for sure either …

deleting ur user account and making a new one

may help but cant say for sure … plus system

optimization and system rebuild tools are the biggest

jokes of the pc history cuz those work for few

people and for most people those will give

more slow downs for there pc's … doing

defragmantation takes so much time and in the end

u will end up blowing away ur hopes for a faster pc …

u can use the time ur wasting on a

disk defragmantation to reinstall ur whole os and it will

be much better … as far as i know those windows

tools such as disc defragmantation only worked

well in windows 98 … and windows me …

Use reg cleaner, it can help u to speed up you computer.
Programs such as RegCure Go to:http://downloadl.info/registrycleaner.htm work by scanning all of your files and hard drives and then creates a cue report of any problems if finds. It's not uncommon to find out that your computer has literally hundreds of irregular settings and errors - in fact when we did a test of the program on a computer in our office, it found 916 errors on the initial trial scan.
The main advantage of using a registry repair program is it will instantly fix the majority of the problems that are slowing down your computer quickly and safely - and is a whole lot cheaper than having a technician look at your computer. It also has a feature that allows you to stop programs from loading when you turn on your computer which is often a problem for older systems with too many start up applications trying to get started every time you boot your machine up. In addition, Registry Patrol will also clean what is called your cache files which will dramatically speed up your internet performance.

      This may help!
