You may get some results by getting more ram or memory for your machine. Did you run a defrag on your system? Good luck.

Well, first off your internet speed doesn't have anything to do with how fast your computer is, it's how fast your service provider is.
If you are using a pc, I would suggest defragmenting your computer. start-programs-accessories-system tools

There are a number of things you can do to speed up your computer. As for your Internet connection, as someone else said, this doesn't have an effect on the speed of your computer. For this to be sorted out, it may be as a result of a faulty box (the kind which plug into the phone line socket - at least they do here in the UK) if you're running a Broadband connection. Other than that, it may be best to discuss it with Comcast, who I assume is your Internet Service Provider (again, I'm from the UK so don't know the other ISPs used :))
As for your computer, it may be running slow due to too many Startup programs opening up when your computer boots to the Desktop (see the icons next to the clock in bottom right?). To disable some of these or switch them back on again if you need to, simply go to Start>>Run>>type in "msconfig">>go to Startup tab>>untick all the boxes you feel comfortable with switching off>>restart your machine.
You may also have a number of spyware/adware which is slowing down your machine. To clear this out is very simple and only requires a couple of programs which you can use and download for free. I highly recommend Spybot Search and Destroy and CCleaner (see source for links). Other than that, you can try the third link which helps with speeding up Windows XP, with a fully detailed guide of how to do each step.

call ComCast support first…they can monitor/test the network in ur area to see if there's a network problem…my brother had the same problem, Comcast solved it quickly

Either get more ram and see if that fixes the problem. If not run a virus scan and a spyware scan. And then clean out all the viruses/spyware. Or you could have way to many programs running in the background and you need to limit how many programs or which programs are allowed to run in the background.
