Get rid of norton it is nothing but spyware and adware.

Defrag your comp. Or delete some programs you dont need.

      you might need more memory

      Switch to avg or eset

Yeah this is not a very fast machine by today's standards and Norton will be much too heavy for it. AVG isn't bad, but I personally prefer Avast (www.avast.com).

Uninstall the Norton and go with one of the lighter free ones that work just as well.

your memory is ok but your processor is a bit slow maybe try avg it`s what i use and i find it fine and i only have a 1200mhz processor also make sure that you are not running to many programmes at once close any that are running in your system tray that you don`t need etc,,,,

Avg free is as good as norton in my experiance, and it uses less of the system resources. I would say that your computer is a little underpowered. If you dont wish to purchase a new one, then i would recommend a upgrade, start with your memory (RAM).

Upgrading RAM would really help things along.]
If it is the new norton then most of your memory would be taken up by it.

do like me and don't put any security on your computer.i never got a virus on my computer and if i do get one i would just reinstall the whole system over again.my computer always goes as fast as it can go.

Get rid of Norton, it's useless!
Yes AVG is much better for a free one and download super anti spyware too.

These will keep your computer safe.

I also suggest CCleaner, this program cleans up your computer and helps it run better.

      Hope this helps

Norton uses a lot of memory, and your computer doesn't have a lot to spare. I had a similar configuration and my computer ran much better when I got rid of Norton and got Avast! Antivirus (which, like AVG, is free). Don't forget to uninstall Norton and defragment your computer.

I also agree with the person above: CCleaner rocks.
