I downloaded an anime thru bittorent, taking an entire day to dowload. The copy had scratches so I deleted it- that's when the problems began.
Now when I turn on my PC it takes around 10 to 15 mins to load all the programs. It runs so slow, if I click on MY DOCUMENTS it doesn't open it till around 10 mins later. Trying to get on the Net is impossible- I haven't been able to AT ALL.
My NORTON scan started and that program ran very slow too-after an entire day the scan had barely reached 5,000 files before I stopped it (last normal scan had around 300,000+ files).
Bringing up the TASK MANAGER takes a long time too, but I can't tell what programs I can shut off. I would try a SYSTEM RESTORE but it seems ANY program I try to run it takes forever to access and respond. I know that BITTORENT had something to do with it, but can I fix this without having to take it in to a pro? I read other similar ?s that recomend DLing certain progrms but how can I if every command runs so slow???
I have shut it down and everytime I turn it back on it seems to run even slower. Since I can't veven access the Net, how would I be able to DL the programs people are recommending? And even if I did and burned it onto a CD to upload onto MY PC the running time is still slow. No I have never DEFRAGGED my HD,can I do it since its running really slow?
And as for rebooting my WINDOWS, I can't find the CD. Is it a lost cause for trying to save the files I have on there? Or is this something only a pro repairman can fix? I would like to keep some of those files I have confidential and would like to do the fixing myself, if possible.

All I can tell you is to just shut it down… back up your files, then wipe the slate clean. Ya, reformat then reinstall windows and your other programs..then download a good program from http://www.iobit.com, called advanced windows care personal. Its free and very efficient. It has a good registry cleaner on it and is great at cleaning and securing your computer. You might wanna make sure your RAM is sufficient, , low RAM can cause problems that mimic corrupt program behavior..so people sometimes don't realize its nothing malicious, its just that the computer needs some upgrading to the hard drive. Always have a professional install more RAM..never attempt it yourself. You need to be very cautious with what you download, make sure the publisher of the program is accredited and not unknown. When was the last time you freed up some disc space? Be careful if you go into chatrooms because recently Ive encountered alot of suspicous activity that really threatened my own privacy.

Before you reinstall windows, have you defraged your hard drive? If not, then I recommend Perfect disk. Go to perfectdisk.com and get it. One of the best programs that I have used to defrag a hard drive. Very easy and does a very good job of defraging any hard drive reguardless of the size. You might want to go to your manufactors site to see if there is a forum present and post there or go to pcpitstop.com and post there. If all else fails, reinstall windows.
