Hello I am having some trouble with my computer lately, the way it is running. I recently had my computer looked at by a computer store two times in the past month. The prolbem is that my cursor seems to be dragging and moving really slow, and all the programs that I run on my computer are taking a very very long time to start. Ocassionally, I get a blue screen that comes up that says something about memory..and it restarts my computer. I am very frustrated with this. I had the computer store install a new harddrive because they said my old one was damaged. I have ran several virus and spam cleaners on my computer and nothing came up.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to maybe fix this prolbem..please let me know!
Thank you for your help
I have a labtop and it is a Acer Aspire 5100…if that helps.

best thing to do is to reformat harddrive and reinstall windows. also find a diagnostic software to check your sytem for hardware/software issues.

HI
As for the mouse , you could go to "control Panel and choose Mouse and when the small window open go to the tap called Pointer Options and you'll see "Select pointer speed "and you choose the speed from fast to slow using the slider.
That about the pointer and you can choose other options there to too.(I was talking about in window XP).
Now if your computer don't have any virus or spyware then it might be due to fact that it is running too many programs at once. You can click ctrl+alt+del button all together in your computer and start the process manager and check how many process you are running. The process manager have 5 tabs and you can check the process in Process tab to check program you are running. And you can check how many processes you have by looking at lower left corner of the process corner. If you have too many like more 60 or 70 then that reason you are running slow. And if you can't open task manager and it said "your adminster had disable the task manager " even though you are the administer and you didn't then it the virus and you need to download another version of antivirus. The free and best ones are avira http://www.free-av.com/ and avg http://free.grisoft.com/. You can download either of them for free.
if not the virus then , it's the too many process you been running . You can disable them by going to start menu and slelec run and and type"msconfig" In General tab you can choose "Diagnostic startup" and restart your computer and see if it get faster.
You can also choose selective start up and deselectived the item "loas start up items" second lower one and don't check any other button like "use origianl boot or something like.
If you are familiar with computer then go to "Start up" tab and selected each program one by one to start up or de selected the all. There is no harm in disabling them all because there are only program file that design to load on your window start up and not system file to run your computer.
And if your computer start up quicker then you know it 's the problem.
About the blue screen thing , that said that some program that you are running are conflicting. When you load a program it came out from harddisk and then go to memory and program start to take some place in memory. So when there are too many program or program it self is conficting with video card it show that screen. So may be you need to upgrade your memory if you want your program to start faster. Or memory is faulty and need a new one. Or you upgraded your programs and your computer cann't run them properly due to the hardware restriction .
And of course don't forgot to empty your cache by going to start up–all programs–accessories–system tools–disk clean up and clean up all the temp file. Defrag your compute by going to my computer and right click on harddisk(C:) go to properties which is lowest in the menu and choose "tools" tab and choose defragment your drive and run scan on your computer too which woud require your computer to restart then scan your computer in blue screen and it might take some time.
Try antispyware and antiadware too. And back up your data before you do any of them because some time anti virus can killed the virus and take down the whole window with it.
by the way, this is for window xp and I had no idea how window vista work.
