it is because you have a small amount of memory .you could upgrade your memory, its relatively cheap.
removing programs, and deleting history, etc. will not give you a speed increase, only more storage space on your hard drive.
if you do upgrade your memory you have to find out two things, 1. how much ram can you add, and 2. what type of ram you have, sdram, ddr, ddr 2.
you probably have either sdram, or ddr

…what century are you from…LoL
Just go to a computer store, by those memory thing, asks the service people, I forgot what they are called, and they will show you.
It can also be how old your computer is. If it’s too old, the machine will soon wear down and stop working properly. So it may be that, if it is, I suggest going to the store and getting another computer!
Have you scanned for virus? It can be that.
Also if you haven’t been doing Disk Clean-up try that. It speeded up my mom’s computer.

It can take quite a long time; i know but try reinstalling windows. If you are not bothered to do that then get more RAM. It is quite cheap.

Are you running XP? You want to at least double your RAM…preferably increase it to 1 GB. That would improve matters greatly.
Go to crucial and run the scan there to see what type of memory you need:

Two issues that will help. If you don’t already have, obtain software to check and remove Virus, Spyware, Malware, etc. also, DeFragment your harddrive which will be needed after deleting all the files.

Upgrade your memory as recommended above. Two Good Memory Procurement locations exist that I’d recommend as follows:
Crucial

Kingston
