It could be but it could also be a few other things. One way to check is to use an online virus scanner. There is one listed on my website. If you run the online scanner and dont find anything then the chances are it is not a virus.

go to start programs accessories system tools system restore. look at calender and try and remeber when your stem was running go and restore it back to that time ( you are not doing a complete restore you won't have to worry about lost data!) .Then defrag your hard drive to speed your computer read time up on hard drive.

ok heres some steps that could help:
it should also be common sense not to end system or system idle process but i thought id warn you anyway.
1. Press ctrl alt delete
2. depending on your computer you might have to click on "task manager" if not, it should be already up.
3.click on the "processes" tab
4. you should see a long list of meaningless program names. the number next to them is the percentage of the cpu they're using up. find the one using the biggest percentage and end it. NOTE: its a good idea to read the program name first, you could be about to end your internet browser, which means you'd have to load the page again with your 100% cpu usage
if that doesn't help, either your computer fails or you have a virus or something.
also people say malwarebytes is the best antivirus program, my avg went spastic a few weeks ago. good luck.
