I installed avg and McAffee antivirus programs and my computer has been running slow. I had Norton before but it expired and had to installed the above mention programs. When I did my computer has slowed down. When I open network and sharing center it takes about a minute to load. All I see is the clicker and a blue circle spinning. Also, this happens when I try to open Control Panel options. It was perfect before Norton expired. I have an intel core 2 duo 2.66 ghz proccesor and 2gb of ram. I have vista business installed and about 80gb left on the hard-drive. What can I do? I already did virus and spyware scan with McAffee. Should I remove it an installed a copy of Norton I found online. I did all clearing but it is still slow. It is hot where I am and I dont know if that matters. I have the same problem with the PS3 my connection is bad and game loads take a while. Is it because of the heat? Someone help me please!
I'm sorry. I didnt explain myself. I only have 1 antivirus installed. I have McAffee.I had AVG but I could not remove the cookies and adware it detected. I uninstalled avg and norton but it is still slow. Personally, I dont like AVG. But, yes I only had McAffee right now installed and running. It's up to date. Please advice.

You should only have either AVG OR McAffee installed. More than one antivirus program installed and running at the same time can cause major issues. I would uninstall McAffee to resolve the issue, but thats up to you, they are both equally good programs, I just prefer AVG.

i think that people tend to have only 1 anti-virus software installed on their system at a time. try removing one and see if that helps.

Running two antiviruses at once will turn a system into molasses. Uninstall Norton and Mcafee and AVG. Then reboot and reinstall AVG. Keep it up to date.

Doubt its an overheating problem. McAffee is not exactly “resource friendly’. I would try the following:
Start > Run > Msconfig > Startup Tab
Remove anything not relating to a driver or antivirus. Email me the list of items if you are unsure.
Download a copy of CCleaner from:
http://www.ccleaner.com/download
Install it, check off all the boxes you see on what to clean, click run cleaner.
Uninstall McAffee, keep AVG. Better on system resources.
Check the system logs to see if perhaps you are experiencing a failing HD. Windows is a bit vague on this but if you right click ‘My Computer’ and click ‘Manage’, it will allow you to go into the ‘Event Viewer’.
Click on the ‘System’ category and look for anything thats an error or anything that says ‘Disk’ or HD. Make note of everything or just click Action > Save log file and email it to me.
Turn off Aero glass feature to improve performance. Go Into screensaver options > power features: click HIGH performance

Using a registry cleaner can clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some registry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause “computer slow”.
Every time you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you’ve installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it’s Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Registry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically!
There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.

I had Norton and it was ok. Now I have mcaffee and it does not detect malware, adware, or trojans well at all! I have had browser hijacks, viruses that redirect my searches, etc, etc, and all Mcaffee seems interested in doing is updating itself 2 or 3 times a day !!!
I seem to spend more time on updating the computer than actually using it. I sometimes think Mcaffee is part of the problem. Otherwise why does it want to update so much? I think it is just trying to phish for info on my computer. Which is a good antivirus program to install that will run and really protect my computer when I am online??
Thanks
