My computer is ridiculously slow. It has no virus, malware or spyware at all because I ran complete scan of antivirus, firewall and antispyware. I also ran the registry cleaner of lavasoft.
I use Avira Antivir classic, Comodo firewall, PC tools Spyware doctor, ad-aware and lavasoft registry cleaner for protection. So if there is no virus, malware or spyware then why is it still so ridiculously slow?
It is an emachines desktop which I purchased in April 2005. It still has windows xp. I am tired of doing computer recovery and re-formatting the hard drive.
I just did the recovery 2 days back. After recovery it is fast but then when 2 to 3 days pass, it again gets very slow.
I talked to emachines technical support and they say i have to add more memory. Why? Why must i add more memory when it is only 3 and a half year old computer?
Can a 3 and a half year old car, have so many problems? Then why PC’s fail after 2 to 3 years only?
i also added a $20 performance enhancer named Boostkit. It is sold by mcafee.
Unfortunately the performance booster also failed. I realize my $20 get wasted. This computer is almost in its grave now.

Try cleaning all of the dust out of the tower with an air duster. That may help a little

there are a few things u can do
1. defrag
2. deleat things u dont need
3. click start>run> msconfig and then stop programs from starting on start up
4. get a performance enhancer (there is one built in trend micro)
5. get some more ram
6. if u really want it to speed up do a compleat system restor. rember to back up all ur data first

You need more RAM because you have more programs running on your computer than you can handle.
Try stopping the programs your toolbar below the screen. They run in the background and there is no reason for them to be running. The only reason they are there is to boot up quickly..but why do that? Just pull it up when you need it.
You can go to all the programs on the toolbar and uncheck the box that is set it so it starts up when windows start! Or delete programs you don’t use!
That will help.
You should also defrag ! Getting some extra RAM though is always a good idea! you can never have enough RAM!

OK to answer the memory question…to run just windows it takes a good bit of your memory and hard drive. *specifics are in the link* However I have 3 hard drives and XP is on one but I can also toggle to Vista. I have 2 gigs of memory which is more than enough and it is wonderful to breeze right on through. When it gets slugish for me I go to Start, Run and type in msconfig and click OK, click on the tab at the far right that reads Start Up. Check the box for Disable All. Reboot your system. That should help you till you get some memory. Hope this helps.

Surfing the internet a lot will create tons of temp files and can slow down your system. This program is great and cleans all that junk off. It’s small and won’t take much space and works really fast. I’ve used it for years.
Computers get slow because hardware doesn’t keep up with software. Software is designed for the newest capabilities, and running the software on older computers slows them down. Adding memory is a good idea and it’s cheaper than a new computer!

ctrl + alt + delete at the same time. Then go to task manager then click on processes.
You can see what programs are using your memory or cpu.
Go to the start menu at the bottom left. Click run. type msconfig click on start.
There you see all the programs that run when you boot your computer.
So now you can see the process running and what memory or cpu they take in the task manager. You can close them right now if you think you don't need them but avoid closing the ones that are in the system folder. And you can also uncheck them in the msconfig menu to avoid them to run on startup.
I don't like unsusefull consumption of goods. I think you should avoid buying new components without looking for other solutions.
Oh yeah defraging your system could help too

I was working on an emachine desktop a few days ago it was ridiculously slow. I put everything except Kaspersky on it. after everything was done scanning it was way more faster. And simple file shredder shredded 7GB’s of junk files.
If you want very good protection. I would recommend that you purchase Kaspersky http://www.kaspersky.com/. (From a store like Future Shop, or Staples. So you have the physical copy of the program). From what I have heard about it. It seems to be one of the best protection programs out there And it has hourly updates.
I use all of these myself, and all of them are free, they are very effective.
1 Spybot - Search & Destroy, its a little out of date but it works.

Also. I suggest that you stay away from online anti-spy scans. As it is not hard for a cracker to hack it, and insert some malicious code into the program which after scanning will give you even more virus’s. (That’s how my computer got infected once, and after that I have been advising people to stay away from them).
I personally don’t like AVG, it screwed up my computer after I Un-Installed it, and Avast didn’t work for me. And Trend Micro, has poor detection rates (I tried it a few week’s ago (downloaded) and scanned, it found 3 items. I ran Ad-Aware after that and it found 18 items that trend micro passed right over).
And I would advise you to stay away from P2P, programs. As they are an excellent vector for infections.

A “E-Machine ” computer is rather a cheap,slow computer to start with.
With-out wasting my time on your doubts —- add more memory —- nuff said.

computer is something which you need to upgrade frequently that is becoz the programs and software designed are allways according to the latest computers….it depends upon the processor compatibility speed multy tasking capabilities and various other factors…..so in this case if your computer gets slow after 2-3 days of formatting then then its probabely the internet file that are causing the problem or u have installed some program which connects to the internet and loads temp inernet file which causes your computer to slow down.

For running slow there are many causes:
Microsoft Registry Problems = Slow Computer!
Spyware/Adware
RAM
De-Fragmenting
Etc.
Below can help you speed up your pc:
For IE, click Tools, Internet Options delete files (offline files) clear history (set days to save to 0 if you want) click o.k., and Restart
For Firfox, press ctrl+shift+del, and click clean private data.
Manage your startup:
Open your Start menu -> Click Run -> In the command screen type “msconfig.exe” -> In the “system configuration utility”, click either “service” or “startup” tab -> Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.
De-Fragmenting
1. Right click of C Disk.
2. Click properties.
3. Click tools tab.
4. Click “Defragment now”.
5. Click Defragment.
You can search which process full use you cpu, and end the process.
Under steps:
1. right click on the TaskBar.
2. click the Task Manager.
3. click the processes tab.
4. double click the CPU.
5. find if the “System Idle Process” is max.
6. if not right click and click end process.
