Well if you have certain CD games that you dont use anymore you could delete them. or go to control panel>add or remove programs> then delete them there.
see what you haveee.
control panel is in the start menu.
good luck!

Could be a virus. But its more likely that some days you have additional programs running in the background of your computer. with only 256Mb of RAM even a virus scan or iTunes could use up an additional 10-15% of your memory. You could try closing some of the processes or you could add more RAM.
The second option is relatively cheap and easy.

Sounds like you have some programs occasionally running in the background that are slowing your computer down.
Do you have a virus scan that is setup to run at certain times? A lot of times those run in the background and slow things down.
If you're on something like iTunes it can slow a computer down a lot.
I'd do two things, when the computer is running fast, check to see the programs you have running, then when it runs slow, check again. You might just find your offender!
Good luck

Try removing games and other unused programs in add/remove programs in control panel. Plenty of programs running at the same time will slow your computer. Be sure to remove first the program that automatically run and access internet when you start your computer. It also slow your pc especially when you are accessing internet. Sure your system will recover

you need more memory. different programs use different amounts of system memory. so simply typing in Word wont use as much as using internet explorer. you need to upgrade to the maximum your system will allow.

256 memory is almost all of it, but go to run>msconfig>(if you installed a bunch of stuff here's where to take it off.

There may be two reasons why your PC is running slow.
1. You havn't cleant up your PC for a long time.
2. You have got a virus or spyware on your PC.
You may search http://answers.yahoo.com for answers
I suggest you to run a virus test firstly with your virus scanner:(if you don't have virus killer, you may try Bitdefender, it is the best:
1. Firstly, update your virus scanner database
2. Then run the scanner and check whether you have virus on your PC.
When you find viruses, Kill them!
3.Then Restart your Computer.
Now you'll find your PC is faster than before,
If not.
You may definetly need to clean up your PC.
Here is instructions about how to clean your PC: http://www.wikihow.com/Clean-Your-Computer
1. Download a nice PC cleaner from http://www.pc-registry-repair.cc
(System cleaner is a best choice)
2. Run the cleaner and clean up your PC.
3. Restart your PC
If you haven't, get one of these antiviruses and download, install and scan
