4-5 months ago a new update came out for my avast pro edition and i updated, however after i updated my computer says my tcp/ip transcrip is not installed and i can not do a system restore. luckly i still have all my restore points it just says unable to do the restore. i gues the registry was currupted on the update and i need to know a way to fix it. i cant do a full windows restore because i lost my factory windows restore cd. but my gues is that i just need to fix the registry so that my omputer can be restore to one of its save points. as for the tcp/ip thing, i have tried many things, even restore in safe mode, i just cant fix it so some one help me por favor!

Auslogics is a good defragger for the registry, http://www.auslogics.com/registry-defrag
Then go to cnet.com for other registry cleaners or repairers.
Glary Utilities is also good for overall pc health

You should install CCleaner, it will get rid of alot of temporary files on your computer. It also has a registry repair system, which is easily the best free one available on the Internet:

Hope that helps.

Does your computer have a system recovery, its different from a system restore as a system recovery completely wipes out everything wrong with the computer and restores it to its orignal form when you bought it. If you have that then use it otherwise you should take it to a professional

well without your windows disk or a backup of your registry file your pretty much screwed cause the registry is not something you want to play around with. you can try a reg cleaner like ccleaner just make sure to make a backup of the reg incase it makes it worse.

Changing the registry will not fix System Restore. Once your restore points are farkled, there is nothing to do but disable System Restore and then turn it on again. All your restore points will be lost, but they were no good anyhow.
