Boot the machine in safe mode, trouble shoot, use the application & driver recovery in All Programs, reboot the machine.

I don’t know what this error is but i would suggest you google it.
Go to google and search " the application or dll c:/WINDOWS/system32/apphelp.dll is not a valid windows image"
This should help.
Good Luck

re install the xp.
this time when prompt for the location, DELETE all partitions!
than CREAT a new partition, format in NTFS , not "quick’.
It should be fine, your probebly useing a cd WITH A FACTORY BRAND HELP MENU, ignor all warnings @ the install stage, it will run fine.
the 7200.9 is old but good, what is the other one?
In ANY case always delete/ create and format partitions

If windows keeps crashing during install its because you have a BAD STICK OF RAM. not from what these people are talking about. I had the same problem.
