My Core 2 Quad, Vista Home Desktop is running extra slow, especially when opening My Computer

As soon as I open any folder, or click on my taskbar (explorer.exe) my computer runs extremely slow, and usually doesnt open the folder. Files and Firefox/IE work fine. I’m guessing my Explorer.exe is corrupted, or something is bothering it.

THINGS I HAVE TRIED
-AVG Antivirus Scan
-Spybot
-AdAware
-a2 Squared (spyware scan, certified by Cnet)
-Vopt (Defragmenter)
-System Mechanic
-Glary Utilities
-CCleaner
-Wise Disk/Registry Cleaner

Even when I boot into diagnostic mode, or safe mode I still receive this problem.

There is a nice article on slow computer and it’s solution. If your computer has become slow for artificial reasons other than the hardware problem i believe it will definitely help. Please have a look on it.
