I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 (just in case that helps)
It is super slow, freezes up all of the time, and drives me crazy!! The battery doesnt work at all and neither does the cd/dvd drive…. I have the disk that cleans everything off of it and reinstalls it but since my cd drive doesnt work then it doesnt do me any good. I have already done a defrag, disk cleanup, deleted cookies and history, etc. and also ran adaware. It is still running terrible! Is there any way that I can go on Dells website and do the computer reinstallation thing from there? Or is there anything else that I can do to clean it up any better? THANKS!!!
It is Windows XP…. and my cd drive doesn't work so I am having a difficulties using the reinstallation disk that came with the computer…

Delete and Re Install . As for the battery maybe you need to get a new one .

Are you running xp or vista? If your running xp you can go to start then click on run. In the box type in msconfig then click okay. Now click on the start up tab and un check all the programs you don't want running from start up and your computer should run a little faster. I usually just un check everything just because I can. You can also click no services and click hide all Microsoft serves and un check those too. and the click okay and restart your computer.
If you have some program that you wanted to have running when you start your computer like your wireless thing don't uncheck that.
Another thing you can do is i you still have the recovery disk that should have came with your computer you can reformat your computer so it'll be like when you first bought it. However if you do decide to do this remeber to back up all your files.
