Hi. I have used poweriso to burn the vista image to the disc (for backup purposes). Recently I got an error that some boot file was corrupt and i needed to repair it by booting up the PC with the vista disc. How is is that on my parent’s computer it will boot up with the disc fine, but on mine it wont boot from it???!!! It does however boot up with the dell Xp reinstallation disc?? Any help please - I really don’t want to have to reload Vista on again?
Thanks

XP is a CD
Vista is a DVD
if your drive is a CD drive then you wont be able to boot Vista’s DVD
if its a DVD drive then… pass

Make sure that in your BIOS you have your boot options set for your CD-ROM to boot first than your Hard Drive. Because the Dell CD is different. That should be the main problem you have having. In order to enter your BIOS when you turn it on as soon as its on should say DELL and in the bottom like F2(setup) look for that should be either ESC,F2,F1 or F8. Again every computer is different.
