My desktop says..Warning: Spyware threat has been detected on your PC.?

September 8th, 2008 · 7 Comments

My desktop has turned blue and it says:
Warning: Spyware threat has been detected on your PC.
Your computer has several fatal errors due to spyware activity.
It is strongly recommended to install an antispyware software to close all security vulnerabilities. Antispyware software helps protect your PC against spyware and other security threats.

Also, on my taskbar, there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it and when I click it, it takes me to a site titled : Top Rated Spyware Remover.

I am not good with computers so is there anyone who can help me in a way a beginner can understand. Thank you so much for your help!
Ad-Aware and AntiSpyware does not help. I need guidance. Thanks.

Hi! I’m a Senior Computer Technician and I would love to help you with your situation!

What you are experiencing is what is called Adware/Scareware. It’s a type of program that installs itself deep inside your computer and ‘warns’ you of an infection that could prove dangerous…

…Here’s the irony. The infection IS the warning. It’s a scam to sell you software that will do you NO GOOD.

The thing is, you need three types of programs:

      HUNTER PROGRAM:
A program that sniffs out and removes other pesky programs. A good one is “Revouninstaller”, and it’s free. Download it and use it’s ‘Hunter Mode” to be able to point at windows and icons, have it tell you where it’s hiding, and have it delete it… Once and for all. It also has an incredible uninstaller built in that finds pieces left over after uninstalls. It’s amazing! http://www.revouninstaller.com

      BEHAVIORAL PROGRAM:
Then, get an item like “Threat Fire” that will try and remove the other parts through ‘behavior’. Unlike Antivirus/Antispyware programs, which require a ‘blacklist’ of know infections to find and to remove files, a behavioral program finds things through a ‘whitelist’ of what’s good, and what is ‘behaving’ strangely. http://www.threatfire.com (It’s free!)

      REGISTRY FIXER:
Afterwards. download a program to fix all the screwed up registry files leftover from the infection’s havoc. A good, free one is “CCleaner”, from Piriform. http://www.ccleaner.com

NOTE: For additional Security, download “a-Squared”. It’s my most preferred FREE Antispyware/Malware software out there.

Depending on how much of your deep system files the viruses have infected may result in you having to restore the unit to an earlier time, or to do a complete reformat, if the above tips don’t work!

      Hope this helps!

      ~ Brian

if youre anti virus is saying that, then scan youre computer. if its just something poping up on desktop, do NOT open the site!!!! its a form of spyware/adware. its a scam site that when you download, it actually makes youre computer get virses and spyware. go and get either AVG free or Avira (both free) and scan youre computer. or scan with this:

      http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

scan for adware and spyware with spybot S&D

Looks like you have downloaded a virus. If you have a virus scanner run it right now and clean your computer before you do anything more.

This one is excellent for removing spyware. If you can't get it all removed then boot into safe mode, F8 when booting up, and run spyware in safe mode

      http://www.ewido.net/en/

      after running ewido run ccleaner.

get Norton anti virus and Ad Aware. Ad Aware can be downloaded for free. Norton will have to be purchased, but I wouldn’t compute without them both. Have a technician look at it as well. I have a friend who can tell you what to do yoursefl, but he will need a small fee for it. Let me know if you would like the contact information.

The B-Magic gave some good general advice, but you may need to find specific manual removal advice from a computer security site. It can be very simple or it can be very complicated. Your problem is probably leaning towards the more complicated. Try a site like one of the following and post the details of your problem.

      http://www.techsupportforum.com/
      http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/

Before you post, download HijackThis, which is very helpful in diagnosing problems.

      http://www.download.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html

Run HijackThis, save the log file and paste the information in the file in your post on the security site.

I hope you find help with your problem, but you may need advice more specific than you can get here to fully solve it. Good luck.

How to remove Warning: Spyware threat has been detected on your PC :

This spyware threat warning is one of many annoying popups designed as Windows warning message. Trojan Zlob generates this warning message to trick users and make them download and buy rogue anti-spyware products like AntiSpyware Shield, Win SpyKiller, Virusheat, Virusheat 4.3, VirusHeat 4.4. Users should remember that this tipe Windows warning message can slow down their PC and cause critical system errors. This fake Windows warning message should look like this:

“Warning: Spyware threat has been detected on your PC. Your computer has several fatal errors due to spyware activity. You are strongly recommended to install an antispyware software to close all security vulnerabilities. Antispyware software helps protect your PC against spyware and other security threats.
CLICK HERE TO SCAN YOUR COMPUTER FOR SPYWARE”
Do not trust this message and delete it as soon as possible!
