I've got an iMac with a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4GB RAM with an Apple SuperDrive optical drive - it still takes about an hour to burn and verify a full length DVD.

Video rendering/encoding is a SLOW process. Even on the fastest computers it takes a while. If you try to go faster, you will probably have errors: I burned a few discs at 4x and they were all junk. I can get away with 2x, but I prefer to burn at 1x so that the quality is perfect.
