my firefox won't open in vista?

i had firefox 3 on my computer for awhile now, when all of a sudden it stop opening. no matter what i do it won't open. i've tried uninstalling it, deleting registry entry's, installing earlier versions, virus scanning, safe mode won't open either. I've heard of this happening elsewhere but mostly on Linux. whenever someone asks for help on vista no one answers. no matter how many times i click on the icon, it shows up in the task manager for a few seconds then dissapeers.
