When you click the forgot password link, Yahoo sends you a temporary password to your alternate mail account. If after using this new password it changes back to the old one, it cannot simply do that by itself. Even if your friend's Ex knew the alternate account and could check it to find the temp password, she would have a very hard time changing it back to the old one. Since you say she repeated some conversations word for word that she could not possibly have known of - have you tried checking the system for spyware like keyloggers? That would explain a lot! After cleaning his system your friend should change his password again and also change the security question: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/account/account-02.html , to be on the safe side he should do this maybe using your computer, not his own.
