Every time i plug in my Ipod touch a box pops up that tells me "This Ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the itunes installer to remove Itunes, then install itunes again." i don’t really understand what there telling me and i pretty much guarantee i wouldn’t know how to do this even if i knew what they were talking about. I do understand the uninstall part but if i uninstall and then install it again will i lose my apps and music and everything? Also, can someone please dumb down the message in quotes.(: thanks!

You wont loose any of your music if you uninstall iTunes, iTunes just puts all of your music into one big window so you can see and play it.
Uninstall iTunes and Reinstall iTunes, if theres any problems contact Apple, there very understanding.

You don’t lose anything from uninstalling. Your music and apps and everything you paid for will be fine.

It’s pretty much saying your iTunes may not be new enough for your iPod, or it lost some of the parts that make it work. If you go to http://www.itunes.com/ and download it, then run the file it has you download, you should be ok. That will remove and reinstall iTunes for you, either way all of your songs, apps, etc. will be safe.

You won’t lose it, but if you feel insecure, go to music>itunes>liabrary, and copy everything there to another location… when you reinstall, just replace the music into the new itunes/paste the folders

check if your itunes is to its latest version. to check for updates get on itunes click on the icon named help and click on check for updates. the latest version is 9.0.2 or update it on apple.com

I think I understand what’s happening. You need to install a newer or a later version of iTunes. Depending on what computer software you’re running(Windows 2000, XP Pro, Xp Home, Vista, or Mac) and your service pack(windows), that’s the version of itunes you can install. If you have Windows Xp Pro, Vista or XP home service pack 2, you can install iTunes 8.2, but if u don’t, you’ll have to download an earlier version. You can download any version of itunes from a website known as OldApps. Also, depending on what ipod you have, you need a certain iTunes version or later. And your music is stored in a folder on a computer, so when you install a new itunes version, your music will automatically download into itunes(along with your apps). So don’t worry about losing anything on itunes. But if you don’t even want to take a risk, put everything from itunes into a folder. I hope i helped.
