I recently installed Norton 360 on my Dell Latitude and the computer restarted. When the install was computer was complete I restarted the computer got to a point when it was loading the Windows XP page and then restarts again and again. I have two operating systems on my laptop (Windows XP and 2000NT) and it has always worked fine until now. When I start 2000 NT it stops at a blue screen that says INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE and explains to check for viruses and to run CHKDSK /F to check hard drive. I cannot access dos through windows. I would like to fix my computer so it will work like it did.

Your boot image is damaged.
If you can login 'Safemode', you may recover your computer.
Hit <F8> while starting, select 'safemode' and login. Then uninstall any new software, norton 360 included, and reboot.
If you can't get safemode, then you have to recreate the boot image.
Boot with a Windows installation CD in the drive, select repair option.
If your computer repairs your boot sector then you will be OK.
If not, you have to reinstall the Windows 'without formatting.'

If you have your Operating System disk, you should be in luck. All you have to do is just format the hard drive and reinstall the OS. To figure out how to do this, just go to YouTube and search for Dan the Computer Man Episode 1. It's about what you just need to do.

The bootloader was destroyed by Norton. Why in hell have you thrown your money on that piece of crap? O well, lesson for the future.
Fix the XP bootloader:
1. Boot up with your Windows XP disc.
2. Select the option Recovery Console.
3. At the prompt, type "fdisk /mbr" (without the quotes of course)
4. Restart your computer.
Now you could add 2000 to the bootlader like this http://support.microsoft.com/KB/306559 but in my opinion all you get from it is al least 2GB wasted and a lot of troubles for a truly obsolete OS.
