My MSN messenger works but my web browser stopped working, First internet explorer and then mozilla.what to do

My internet explorer and mozilla firefox arent working on my laptop using a wireless connection at home. I just had this installed, internet explorer hadn't been working for a while and then mozilla asked for an update i pressed it and since then it hasn't been working. i uninstalled both internet explorer and mozilla firefox and installed firefox again but still they arent working, there is nothing wrong with the firewall settings as I have tried with it switched on and off. Please can someone help.

      Check for a virus/worm. That could be your problem.
