My norton free trial ends next week. ?

August 24th, 2008 · 12 Comments

I bought my laptop 2 months ago and it came with norton anti-virus protection for 2 months. Subcription is up and I want to know what I can expect to pay for the Norton Internet Security Software. Gateway is trying to sell me a year subscription for $49.99. IS there anywhere else to get it cheaper?

Second, I really can’t afford $50 right now and if I don’t have it installed for the next few weeks should I be ok just going to sites like ebay, yahoo sports, yahoo email, etc…?

Third, are there any cheaper versions of internet security out there besides norton? If so, which ones are known to be the best for the money?

Fourth, is internet hacking or viruses really that prevalent or is it just the anti-virus software makers trying to blow things out of proportion to make it sound like your system will crash unless you use our software so of course they can bring in more revenue?

AVG Free is a great anti-virus software. It’s free but it doesn’t protect against spy-ware. It does protect against core viruses and its easy to update and use.

      AVG for antivirus
      Spybot for anti-spyware
MS built in firewall or zone alarm firewall
Yahoo answers you help you remove norton

And yes, the threats are real if you use windows; negligible if you use a mac or linux

I hate to tell all those people that answered you but avg 8 does come with spy ware and ad-aware protection now. Works pretty well but I’ve had alot of trouble with the e-mail scanner not working properly–I also heard avast isn’t worth the trouble–good luck!

      Hello ,

You are in a tough spot .. Long run plan here > Purchase a Suite with Nortons “Internet Security 2008″ it has all you need for protection of E-Mail , Blocks against Spyware , Virus , Keyloggers , Trojans . Only one more barrier for Spyware .. use Webroot SpySweeper .
Cheaper stuff is with less features and you end up buying separate softwares and pay out more . Suites are the best way to go and Suites work well with computers and easier to configure along with the PC .
Hacking is always amongst our Browsing and E-Mailing and Chatting in Messengers . Subscribing yearly will be a must for the strongest software . Look into and click this link at Symantec > http://shop.symantecstore.com/store/symnahho/en_US/DisplayProductDetailsPage/ThemeID.106300/productID.77398500/pgm.13843400 .
This is an excellent Suite … Remember to look into Webroots Anti-Spyware > http://www.webroot.com/En_US/consumer-products-spysweeper.html . This runs all the time in the background which is necessary and it purpose . The Anti spyware in the Norton can be disabled , however if left enable with Webroots enabled .. they do not conflict . One more barrier >>> Routers are great barriers to protect your IP Address .. Linksys make excellent Routers .
Browsers crash .. PC and softwares occasionaly crash when full of junk and sometimes noone knows why , an expert Hacker might get into a PC but expert Hackersw are after big people like Corperations .. probably never happen to you . Stay with safe websites and reject File and downloads from starngers .
