OK ive tried everything. I've ran a virus scan, no viruses, spyware scan, none at all. I've deleted all my cookies and history. I've used ccleaner, I've emptied my recycable bin, and increased my virtual memory. I've even ran disk cleanup and removed some programs i dont want. I have almost 5 gigs of space left on my hard drive and it is still slow. only thing i haven't done is disk defrag. is it possible that my pc is just naturally slow? i have had it for about 4 years now.

Its possible however unlikely, computers dont slow down as they get older. The requirements for running applications does actually get harder as the computer gets older, but running the same-old programs should be fine. Most likely, it's that you have legitimate programs that are taking up your cpu and ram.

PC's don't naturally get slow, atleast not the hardware, it's the software that get's laggy, if you try everything but are hopeless, the last thing you can try is format your computer and reinstall your windows. and only install necessary software
