It starts up normal, then shows the windows xp logo and the loading screen with the xp logo and the loading bar, but then after 2-3 seconds of the loading screen, it flashes a blue screen with some writing on it( I can’t make it out cause it flashes too fast), the my pc restarts and repeats the whole process over. I have an HP 530 laptop, and its running xp. I have tried booting in safe mode(Ive also tried safe mode in command prompt), but the same thing happens as if I started the computer normally. I’ve tried last known configuration, and starting windows normally, but with no results. What are my options? Any ideas?

As the computer is loading, keep tapping the ‘F8′ key until you get a screen similar to the one with Safe Mode on it. This new one should be slightly different and should contain one option called ‘Disable Automatic Restart’. Select that and continue/reboot. Next time the computer tries to load it will stop on the blue screen and you will be able to get the details off it and let us know. The important parts are in capitals and will resemble things like BAD_POOL_HEADER or STOP 0×000000CA
….stuff like that. Dont worry too much about the other stuff.

Right.
First thing: Start in safe mode (press F8 @ boot). Can it start?
If so, do you have an AMD processor? Have you installed SP3 recently?
If the answer is yes to these then I have a solution:
http://msinfluentials.com/blogs/jesper/archive/2008/05/08/does-your-amd-based-computer-boot-after-installing-xp-sp3.aspx
Read the article (on another PC or in safe mode with networking) and download the visual basic script (.vbs) tool and run it in safe mode.

The problem is essentially a intelppm.sys driver which needs to be disabled at startup and renamed in Windows/System32/Drivers to intelppm.orig (or somesuch) and the computer restarted.
If you have an AMD processor and have updated to XP SP3, only to experience a bsod - this is what it is.

Did this happen after doing a registry clean up or a virus/spyware scan,or did you download something..it sounds like your computer has crashed and unfortunately you will have to re-install your OS
