but nothing is working i reinstalled it twice after trying to uninstall every little detail of the sims 2 but when i try to launch it from the icon it says sims 2 launcher has stopped working then when i go into the file and press the autorun feature it says i have the wrong version of sims??? i am going to try to call EA tomorrow and see if it does me any good - will it even do me any good to have a fresh copy? i just got it like 2 wks ago and it WAS working fine and a lot of fun! i have read all over the internet and A LOT of people seem to be having the same problems and no seems to have any answers!!! please someone help ..im a stay at home mom that finally found something relaxing to do in my few moments for myself:(

there area couple of things you can try.
firstly,try cleaning out your computer and that includes your registry. you can find cheap/free programs if you google for em.
a couple of good ones are ccleaner and eusing free reg cleaner.
after that try a spyware scan and then a virus scan.
after that,try doing a defrag - and finally restart your computer.

You can try bypassing the launcher, which is fine to do and which many people do as a matter of course even if they don't have any problems. Full instructions are here:

Hi i recently downloaded the sims 2 and installed fine.. used Daemon tools to mount it and everything… and then i downloaded the sims 2 pets.. and it installed fine again… only now when i try to play it b4 it loads it comes up with the white square sayin “THE SIMS 2 PETS EXPANSION PACK” like its about to load and then a box comes up “please insert the sims 2 pets disk click ok to contine” and i have no idea what to do? and now when i try and play just normal sims 2 it comes up with “this is the wrong version of sims please insert the sims 2 pets to play” ????????? im soo lost and stuck
