I am quite certain that only my own fingerprints were enrolled for this account. This is on a new computer that has a fingerprint reader as an alternative login method. My account is password protected.
I'd like to know how accurate these computer fingerprint readers are turning out to be. Is our case exceptional, or have many others had this experience?

Maybe there's a glitch. I have a finger scanner and I'm the only one that has access; I had other people try when I first got it to see if it was working properly.

Never used one so I couldn't say, but I would say there are way around the fingerprint thing, you see if on tv all the time. A password that's 26-48 characters long work much better in the long run.

my laptop has a built-in one and you can change the settings on it to make it do high security or low.
(be careful on high because you need to do it like 50 times to get access)

Have you tried different fingers with different pressure?
If that doesn't work get a new finger reader.

Run a test and have your wife brother or friend do the same thing to see if it will log onto your computer just by swiping the finger over the scanner.
It's possible that your sons finger print and yours are very similar. Close enough to fool the computer.

I suspect your security setting is not correct.
We use finger print access at work, you normally need to scan two fingers in case you lose one - otherwise you can't get access.
The software normally has a security feature where you can select how many data points it needs to match - putting it on a high setting will make it so even you can't get in unless you get your print right every time.
I have seen some of the lesser quality finger print swipes/software work with any finger and I've actually seen someone get access by swiping his nose on the scanner !

it sounds like he was the first to use it for the user account. if you log back in go to the control panel and reset the finger print and change the password. it should work. if not then he must have done something else.
