My toolbar or icons are not showing up on my desktop only thing up there is the screensaver help?

Ok i was playing with my sims PC game and I exit then a popup saying "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application." so i press OK but after that the only thing on the screen is the screen saver. Help me please. If this helps the only thing I can do is press Ctrl+Alt+Del and the taskbar shows up but thats it. Please answer me ASAP.

      Sounds like explorer isn't running. A reboot should get you going.

      Or ctrl-alt-del and get a task manager running. Click the applications tab. Click New Task…

      In the run box type explorer.exe and click ok.
