My Trend Micro Internet Security System is Acting Up?

I recently took my virus filled labtop to Geeksquad because it crashed on me. They installed a program called Trend Micro Internet Security and told me to use it every few weeks to scan for viruses. The only problem is when I tell the program to scan I dont think it does anything. Click "Scan Now" and it says that a scan is in progress, but it never finishes. I let it scan for an entire week once and it never finished scanning. I can let it scan for days, but then it will pop up telling me that I havent scanned in months even though I just let it run a few days ago. Am I doing something wrong or should I go back and get them to look at it. I would hate to have to pay them agian to fix the same problem so help would be greatly appreciated.
