My Trend Micro renewal is almost here, should I ditch it?

July 25th, 2009 · 4 Comments

I know this question has come up before many times, but my renewal for Trend Micro Internet Sec. 2009 is coming to an end. I’ve been doing some research of whether to stay with it or ditch it. I need an internet security suite and need some help in deciding which one. I don’t really trust Kaspersky — seem to be affiliated somehow with Russia. Don’t mean to offend anyone but it just gives me the chills. Anyway any help would be appreciated.

yes you should. The problem With current av products is they only block known bad things. If you want to step into the future, than a different model should be used. BluePoint Security blocks both known and most importantly unknown threats. check them out, They have a free trial at

Trend Micro is actually not a bad suite — If it is worth ’simplicity’ .. ie: It is working, and you aren’t computer savvy, etc.. I would go ahead and just renew it.

If it is slowing your computer considerably and you are extremely poor - Then I would recommend Comodo —

This should be all you need.

I use Kaspersky. It’s the best AV i ever had. Trend Micro in the free version is a step below AVG. AVG is about as sorry as you can get. In all the years i have been using my computer i can’t tell you how many times i have gotten hit with all manner of bugs and viruses. The worst i ever got hit was with AVG & Avast. When i used trend i found that it hardly ever detected anything. I didn’t figure it out until i used Avira and Avira found all the junk that trend missed. But then i heard about Kaspersky and decided i would try it. That’s been 2 1/2 years ago and i never went back.

It’s the best i ever had. No bugs or viruses of any kind in over 2 years. You can’t beat Kaspersky as far as protection goes. It also has a very strong fire wall built in. Yes’ It’s Russian. I hate to say it but truth is truth, AS AV’s go, None of the American brands can do what it does.

I’ve used them all including Trend. None of them hold a candle to Kaspersky. As long as Kaspersky keeps putting out a great product i will stay with it.
