My Vista won’t boot after an update installation, please help?

September 7th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Hey everyone. I have a Windows Vista computer and I would greatly appreciate any relevant and helpful information that could help me with this problem. I’ve never had problems with my computer for the last 6 months I’ve had it. Yesterday I was burning some system recovery discs, but I had to leave before the process was finished. There was a notification about updates that would be installed before shutdown.

I said ok and shut down my computer. Well, when I turned on the computer this morning there was the usual startup
Vista progress bar (moving green dots) then nothing - blank screen and no
noticable noise from the pc. I noticed the last DVD disc was still sitting in the drive - I took it out and restarted. Same thing. Restarted and entered the boot menu and the advanced chipset features - the boot devices were correct and the HD’s were properly recognized.
Safe mode doesn’t start up - freezes with ‘wait’ in the bottom of the screen. I got in touch with support and entered the Vista repair option. Running the
‘Startup Repair’ nothing happens - it just keeps running for hours.
Running the ‘System Recovery’ - from an earlier Windows date, I get a
message that I need to first run disk recovery and repair, which then
proceeds and keeps running with no progress.
I’ve tried putting in the first of the recovery discs that finished
yesterday, but upon startup, it’s like the pc doesn’t sense anything’s in the drive.

Can anyone help me fix this problem. I’m tired of these updates being installed and than the next time I power on my computer I have to do system restore. I NEED PROFFESIONAL HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM.
All answers are appreciated but only the person who can give me the most ACCURATE information will be chose as Best Answer.

Please help I'm getting extremely frustrated.

Alright u need to let me know what brand ur computer is. If it is HP most likely recovering ur files can be done but it will be a really painstaking procedure. If its Dell i believe it can be done. If its a laptop like Toshiba its really easy.

Go into your BIOS’s Boot screen
Set Boot preference to CD/DVD drive first
Restart with the Recovery disc inside
      Follow instructions
