I try to encode a .avi movie to put on my PS3**** and when I hit start, the thing hangs for 10 secs and restarts, trying again gets the same result, putting me in an infinite loop.
I used to encode movies with Windows Media Encoder under XP, and it worked fine with 512MB, although it took a long time, it got done, this refuses to start, and I have 1.5GB of RAM
****I know that the PS3 can read .avi, and my entire movie collection is on my PS3, and some .avi files do not work on it****
I am trying to use Windows Media Encoder 9, it says it right in the question!

Please name the program you are trying to use.

And find one you like.
