Are you using the standard 360 or the 2.0. version? If your auto protect keeps getting disabled then you may have a virus! Are you enabling it through the advanced settings page? When I want to turn it on or off, I open the Tasks and settings window. Then I click Change Advanced Settings, and on the Advanced Page…I make sure that the first three boxes are checked.
If you suspect a virus infection, you'll need to run your virus scan in safe mode. But before running scans, turn off system restore so the virus won't re-infect your PC on restart. Click Start, My computer. Under system tasks…click View System Information. Click the system restore tab. On the next page check the box next to Turn off system restore. You'll get a warning about turning off system restore will delete all restore points. Click OK. Restart computer, as it's booting up start pressing F8 until you get a menu with options Safe Mode etc. Choose Safe Mode with network. Your display will start to look like something out of the Matrix movie, don't worry it's normal. Once windows loads in safe mode you're icons will be larger than normal…no problems. Run your scan. Restart computer. Go back in and turn on System Restore. Your Auto Protect should be functioning now.
