I bought a used refurbished laptop on Ebay but it didn’t come with any program disk. Several times I have had the message to insert the WindowsXP disk. What should I do. So far I have been able to get around this just by restarting but that’s bound to not work eventually. The first time I noticed this was when I tried to set it up to receive a fax.

You will need to call Microsoft and ask them to send you a replacement CD to the version of windows your laptop has. Make sure you click my computer and click properties to find out what kind of computer you have

Yes. You need a windows XP disk for further utility installation. First of all check whether its a genuine version of windows XP or not. You can get the cd from your friends or if you ask for a copy of that to the nearest computer vendor, you can get that.
If its a genuine version then you have to ask the serial number for that version from EBAY itself. The serial number matters a lot because windows xp is not a free software. If you have the genuine version you will get the advantage from microsoft.
