I have to remove avg from my system, now I am using AVIRA, it is real coal Anti Virus and no problems until now.
I like a lot AVG, but I will wait new version to see if problems continue!
I use too all this security programs: Spybot, Zone Alarm Suite, PeerGuardian, Adware and CCleaner.
I can add that my Internet connection sometimes didn't work at all, I am sure it was AVG 8.0, problems start it after installation, stopped after revome.

Go with Avast, they are a pretty decent AV. If you are using it for business use you must pay, but if you are a home user it is free. I had it for a while and I liked it, problem is that it doesn't seem to pick up cookies.

I agree with Shaun D all though i use 8 myself, but never experienced any problems.

An anti virus program will not permanently slow down your internet connection - it may do occasionally if it is updating itself but it will tell you when it is doing that. If your internet connection has suddenly slowed look somewhere else. Have you tried power cycling your modem recently?
BTW AVG 7.5 Free will expire shortly and there will be no updates so using an anti virus that does not get updates would be very dumb

Particularly there are no more free AVG anti-virus software until the company that created it didn't create new AVG anti-virus that is free. AVG anti-virus 9.0 is not free. Right. You will need to purchase it. But you can purchase it if you have enough money.

well AVG and Avira are free softwares
the best from my opinion is kasper sky
it is fast and have many virsions ,
the latest virsions is compatible with vista and it is very secure

Avast has a higher and faster detection rate than AVG.I've used the free for years and never had any problems at all with it.And bludger, cookies are spyware not viruses.
