PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE DEFINITE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION, DON'T ANSWER AT ALL PLEASE.
The HD is totally erased and empty with NO trace of data. No OS installed, not 1 file.
Every time i try to install Windows XP Pro, I get a different error message each time, which causes the OS installation to abort. Here are some of the different error messages I recieve individually:
1) Windows XP cannot be installed on a disk connected to a PC card. Press Enter to continue.
This problem seems to be caused by: setupdd.sys
2) setupdd.sys
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
3) INF file TXTSETUP.SIF corrupt or missing, status 4096
4) PCI.sys is corrupted
5) File \1386\BIOSINFO.INF could not be loaded = Code 4096
6) File \1386\C_437.NLS
Error Code 7
7) The file CDROM.SYS is corrupted.
Press any key to continue.
File \1386\C1252.NLS
Error code 4096
9) File \1386\NTKRNLMP.EXE
Error code 7
(CONTINUED)
10) File GL10WNT.SYS caused Error (4096) at line 3540 in D:\XPSPRTM\BASE\BOOT\SETUP\SETUP\.C.
NOTEL This particular message occured after XP couldn't recognize mass storage device and prompted to choose "S" with all drives ready.
It seems as though the system is not recognizing my HD due to the interference of other mass storage devices, which i've got several of.

Bad RAM? Re-seat it on the mobo.
Read errors from the CDRom? Use another drive to install from.
Are you overclocking and the system cant quite take the settings? Go into the BIOS and try some more conservative settings.

there is either something wrong with the hd where it doesnt suppport your comp or something could be wrong where ure o.s reinstallation cd doesnt recognize the drive because it was replaced with another one in different brand say u have a compaq u needed to buy a compaq hd for better performance or try buying a vista installation cd there only bout 200$ but i know for sure the pc isnt recognizing it because of either the brand or unsupported…contact ure pc seller..

U can do the following things: -1. Reformat the Hard Disk in DOS and create proper partitions for all of the hard disk and not just a portion of it.2. Get ur Windows CD scanned for viruses by running a virus check on some one else's computer.3. If its a pirated copy, forget it. Get a new original one.4.Last but not least, disable and DISCONNECT all other storage devices whole installing windows.

i would disconnect all other storage devices until you have windows loaded, on my pc i always disconnect all extra devices and just leave the hard drive and dvd rw connected and it works ok for me, also are you partitioning the hard drive ok. i reconnect all other devices only after windows and the drivers are installed
