I have norton and noadware but i want to have completely free ones that will work. what software should I download to protect my computer from spyware AND which one should I download for viruses?
Should I get rid of the norton & noadware? Which ones do they protect?

There is no “best” when it comes to antivirus and spyware software. Personally, I like Avast!, because it works and is free. You can find it at

For anti-spyware, I recommend a combination of programs. I use two: Lavasoft Ad-Aware, Spybot Search and Destroy. Find them here, respectively:

Linux.
Just delete Windows and install Linux. Ubuntu is great. You’ll never have a virus or spyware again.

All you need is Norton you do not need noadware as it will fight with Norton. Norton dos the lot all you have to do is run live update each week and do a full scan each week or set it up to do it automatically.

Remove Noadware with RevoUninstaller:

It's faster and better than add / remove applet.
When you run it highlight the item then select uninstall in next window select Advanced and click Next, follow prompts when uninstalled it will scan registry and drive for leftover files / folders,click + sign to expand all results and tick ONLY the bold items and follow prompts.
Many will say AVG, but I disagree and will say that up to V7.5 it was good, but V8 uses too many resources and catches less viruses.
I prefer Avast anti-virus which better definitions, anti-spyware and anti-rootkit built in, faster and more reliable:

Download, install, update and select Full Scan.
Remove all infections that it finds after scan.

Download, install, check for updates, then select Scan your Computer, select your drive and select Perform Complete Scan
Spybot S&D:

Open Spybot, click on Mode, select Advanced, click on Tools then Resident and untick Resident 'Tea Timer'
